MUIR CREEK HYDROLOGY

"an ideal park in jeopardy"

Mouth of Muir Creek

The headwaters of Muir Creek are located

near Mount Muir at approximately 750

meters above sea level. In the wet season,

November to February, the creek flow has

been measured at 6,280 liters per second.

In the dry season, June to September, the

flow decreases and has been measured at

274 liters per second. The heavy winter

rains make it more important to protect

the steep banks of this system. Several

tributaries feed into the creek, which has

a total length of about 15 km from the

headwaters to the mouth near the center

of Orveas Bay on the Straits of Juan de

Fuca.
